Friday Fault Photo #2

Today's Friday Fault Photo is a picture of a small exposure of some dip-slip to oblique-slip slickensides from an outcrop high on Squaw Peak above the small eastern Nevada town of Ely. Once again, if you look closely, you can see part of the footwall breccia. Breccia fragments are mostly sub-rounded, but include some sub-angular fragments. The amount of offset on this fault is currently not known (by myself, at least).

For some great photos of slickensides, go to to Andrew's recent post at About.com:Geology. Some of his photos are of huge outcrops of slickensides.
